Grrrr it's neither BSPP or NPT! It's just a tad smaller than BSPP so the BSPP to NPT adapter I bought won't even fit in the hole!

Just so were on the same page, this compressor is the bigger brother of the popular MV50 compressor.

Any ideas on what size threads this fitting actually has?

I was thinking as a last resource I will keep the fitting on the compressor and instead cut the end of the rubber hose attached to it and put standard fittings air into the end.

TIA!

Ray,

I've got a similar compressor with the same issue (Masterflow MF-1050) which has it's own proprietary connectors as well, and adapters won't work. From what I've read so far, the only way to remedy this is to tap the head to accept an NPT fitting to use standard hose connections for both the output, the gauge (should you want to replace it, mine is junk) and the intake filter. I'm going to be trying this soon on mine as my hose is starting to show some wear, and could be a tad longer. Along with some other mods to help it run a bit cooler.

Yeah that works for the mf1050 but that's not easy to do on this unit because the air chuck is not right at the compressor head. Instead there's a pipe attached to the head along with a heat shield surrounding it that you use for the handle. (See image below)

Unfortunately the pipe is pretty thin walled and I'm not sure you could resize the threaded hole any bigger without compromising the port's physical integrity.

Ended up taking the fitting off the end of the rubber hose and replacing it with a standard US fitting. Also replaced the rest of the air lines that came with the unit with a higher quality polyurethane hose and standard quick disconnect fittings.
