Getting the Wheeling Fever
Since my 97 LWB ate its engine a while ago I've been seeking a newer engine. Found on from a 2000 Sport. Both are 3.5L 6G74 engines. What I'm wondering is if these will interchange easily or would I be looking at modding lots to get it to fit?

I know I'll have to swap over almost all the accessories, just wondering about the basic swap?

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Just started this on my 95 SR...
Doesn't look good. I don't think there is enough clearance for the SOHC pan and the DOHC does not fit on the SOHC. Might need a custom oil pan.. I'll find out as soon as I put the engine in the truck. And even if the pan fits not sure the oil filter will as its on the driver side and DOHC was on pass. with my oil cooler. Which I guess I cant hook up without more custom work.
But other then the pan/pump seems doable but I'm working with a SR which has coils already if you have a distributor thats another story.

Nope. SOHC pan doesn't fit. Here's the pan sitting on the front axle and you can see the motor mount isn't hooked up.[Linked Image]

That's all it takes to get a Mighty Max 2.4 to fit in an '86 Montero SWB. Sledgehammer engineering.

Can you set the motor up a bit higher?

I think so there is plenty of room in there now that its SOHC. But how? Should I put spacer under the mount? between the mount and bracket? Will doing this bring them to close together and mess up the mounts? So I have to raise the mounts up and out?

Body Damage is Cool
My DOHC has an upper and lower oil pan - is the SOHC the same way? If the lower oil pan doesn't interchange then maybe you need both of them to make it fit.
