I'd be asking myself what made it fry before I fixed it. It obviosly got hot. I'd first suspect some form of increasing resistance, dropping the voltage. When the voltage drops, the amps increase, and thus the heat increases, melting the plastic.


Maybe oxidation in the wires at that connector? I know on my SR, one of the main battery wires was heavily corroded and it had to be cut back and a replacement terminal installed. Luckily it was long enough to do. Otherwise, I'd have probably had to replace the whole thing.
