I've been plowing lime a mad man and my front differential partially ejected the extention shaft on the passenger side. There's a minor storm tomorrow but a huge one this weekend. I have a 4cyl, but I think the larger 6cyl dif will fit. Any leads or suggestions appreciated. I'll try to attatch a pic of the obvious trouble.

If nobody has one to sell you try using car-part.com to search for one at a PickNPull yard coming from one of the states outside the snowbelt so you get one that's in decent condition. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

my best guess is that the circlip at the end of the shaft is gone and the shaft has shifted out. I'd open the front diff to be sure and remove the pieces.
Look on page 53 of the front suspension section of the FSM. Part #5.
Pull the shaft, install the new clip, shove it back in and bolt it up.
Just my WAG, but don't worry, someone else will be along in a minute or two to tell you how to do it right. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

good luck! I agree on the above. The V6 won't direct swap unless you do the matching CV shafts & drive shaft as well. The Gen 1 V6 manual is the strongest of the Gen 1s. I did this swap in mine. Wrote up a how-to on here several years back. Read It Here

I got a complete v6 set up down in nc that I cleaned up and painted when I thought mine went bad and all it was was a cv. Diff and the match cv axles.

I'm in Lansdale PA, 19446. 30min N of Philly. What yard did you take it to? There is a 4cyl parts truck around here in a driveway, but I can't remember where!!!!

I had to operate it in 4lo for the last few days and I fear that the shaft and/or gear are torn up. I'll take a look in the morning.
