Getting the Wheeling Fever

I have two 87 escorts that both have the Mazda 2.0L RF 14 diesel motors in them. Ford made the escort for a few years back in the mid to late 80's with a diesel motor. They both get 50MPG on the E-way and about 40MPG in the city.

One of these cars I have is not worth saving do to EXTREME rust so I was going to pull the motor and keep it for a back up.

Do any of you think it would fit in a 89 mighty max 4x4 and would it have enough power to run the truck and last if I wanted to put it in?

Could it work?
