2000 Montero, will have 2" BL before larger tires.

Looking at 35" BFG KM2s, 12.5" wide, on 15x8 rims.

Is 3.5" okay for backspacing?

I apologize if this is a common question, I thought I'd read it somewhere but can't find it now.

I run 35x12.5/15 on 8" wheels with 3.5 - 3.75" BS with no problems.

I also run my 86 with 33x12.5-15 on the stock 7" SR wheels with virtually no problems. It will rub when leaving a downward facing driveway with the wheels cranked all the way to the right, but that's not the fault of the backspacing.

Hmm...does the 86 get much highway time? I'd be a little concerned about a 12.5" wide tire on a 7" rim. I think they'd be fine off-road.

It's fine.

I used to run Toyo Open Country M/T's in 33x12.5/15 on the stock 7"W wheels (95 SR) and they wore evenly and the truck handled well with that set-up.

I'm not having much luck finding wheels with a 108mm center opening, at least used.

New, there's the Black Rock 15x8, 4.25" center bore. Offset is listed as 4", but I don't know the backspacing.

I'd still like to run 35x12.5 on the stock rims. I really just like the look of the stock rim and of course hate to spend money on new ones if i don't have to.

Anyone run a 35x12.5 on a stock 7" rim?

Even better, my next-door neighbor caught the 1st Gen bug years ago and a shop actually mounted 33x12.5/15's on the stock 6" wheels. That's about as tight as I've seen.

It would work, but I'd be very careful to set air pressure with a "chalk check," for proper tread pattern spread. You might end up at some crazy low pressure to get the set-up right, but keep in mind the tires are rated to carry a lot more weight at max pressure than you need them to do, so a lower cold pressure may be the only way to get them to form a good contact patch.

Any reason these wouldn't work?

What's the center bore? Needs to be at least 108mm... which is really max for a 6x5.5" bolt pattern rim.

Otherwise I think they will work. Always test fit them first though if at all possible. That's what I did at America's tire when buying my rims.
