I just pulled my old oil pump and found that the silent shaft (that connects to the pump) is missing....

Question?

Does the silent shaft affect the oil pressure?

I've posted pictures on my FB since I'm not able to upload to this post... Hope I do this right....

History: my oil pressure wasn't stable and I was getting knocking noise from the lifters and the noise cleared only when I floored it (high RPMS-high oil pressure)....

Thanks for any help or suggestions.....
