Don't know the exact answer, but since the 95 isn't ODBII, wouldn't that imply a "no" answer? I know from past talks with OldColt that later Montero ECUs can be accessed, like my 00 for example.

I suspect, if you can re-pin the harness (or make an adapter from an old harness/ECU) and re-sensor where existing sensors will not suit the expected input ranges, you could run an Evo ECU in anything...

I am not familiar with what EvoScan does specifically. As for later Mitsu ECUs, Charlie has software to tune them. I beleive it is Mitsu software, but am not sure. Making us of this would of course remove the need to wire up an aftermarket FMS. Our discussions on this were more about optizing for fuel efficiency than upping HP. Nominal gains in HP would be welcome, but thought there was room for much inprovement in MPGs.
I am hoping to explore this futher with him this year when we do the MT swap into the 00...

From what I've read on the subject, '95 is referred to as a "hybrid" system as far as OBD is concerned. Hybrid meaning a OBD I ECU, with an OBD II plug for the harness. I'm not familiar with EvoScan so I don't know if it works with Mitsus with this hybrid system or not. I was going to try this system (middle of the page) but I have not contacted the site owner to see if their software and interface will work with the Montero.

EvoScan runs MutII - at least according to the <a href="websitehttp://www.evoscan.com/evoscan-gps-obdii-cables/details/15/1/performance-vehicle-pc-diagnostic-interfaces/evoscan-13u-universal-usb-datalogging-and-reflashing-cable" target="_blank">websitehttp://www.evoscan.com/evoscan-gps-obdii-cables/details/15/1/performance-vehicle-pc-diagnostic-interfaces/evoscan-13u-universal-usb-datalogging-and-reflashing-cable</a>
I'm not interested in flashing or fine tuning. I just want something that I can read the data with like fuel trims, sensors, IAC steps, etc

I ran EVO-scan on my 96 JDM Evo IV. It was great for pinpointing an ABS fault, and resetting the code after I had fixed the problem. Otherwise, not a huge amount of info from that particular ECU, but as the years went on, I heard more info was sent to the OBD port...
