Body Damage is Cool
In the past couple of days the little 3.0 raider has been having auto tranny issues. it started out reving close to 4k rpms before shifting to overdrive. now it does not go into overdrive and does not want to go into 3rd gear unless it gets well over 4k rpms and the needle is bouncing. No leaks plenty of fluid. No sounds to allude to anything going on. i did smell something but could not put my finger on what the smell was. Any advice or help. just curious if my 91 lwb tranny will swap in with no worries. i think so but wanted to make sure.

Need a Spot
Check the throttle cable tension for the trans. There is a wrote up on how to do it in the archives. I adjusted mine to actually have it kick in a little later as she was shifting way too soon.

If thats the case what would cause it to suddenly happen?

Also check to see if the cable is sticking. The liner can get gunked up over time.

I took a look and the cable on the throttle body is pulled out and does not retract. So i will start with that. do you have the part number, exact part name. is it easy find? expensive? Thanks

It's called the throttle valve cable, or TV cable. I can't find the part in ASA...

I couldn't find it in ASA either, last time I looked. Also, Rock Auto does not list one for the application I was looking for.
