I'm interested. I've been considering jumping ship to a 3rd GEN though so I need to make a decision before committing.

Well this is just going to be my starting point, i'll get into gen 1 and 3 stuff as well. There is a lot in the works; snorkels, fender flares, lights, recovery gear and whatever else we might need. I'm not trying to get rich off of you guys but i am going to make a little money this round. In the past we've put together group buys and either made no money or took a loss because we are a lovable bunch of guys with hearts of gold. I'm taking a different approach, the money made off of the first few group buys i'm putting together will go back into getting more upgrades available to YOU and eventually not needing to do group buys for everything. The ultimate goal is to make the Montero the easiest most cost effective 4x4 to build and most of all no more pots here about how there is no aftermarket support.
On a semi related note,
We were at the Overland Expo this weekend and we saw an array of aftermarket for building and outfitting your rig to take wheeling and camping. All of these great products had one thing in common and that was the price. With the exception of things like tie down straps, pocket knives, string, canteens and things like that none of it was affordable to us (they had lemonade for $5 per 16oz cup). Aside from our small Mitsu group it seemed like everyone else there had a more disposable income, the vehicles and setups there were unreal. I kept thinking "what if i couldn't fabricate my own stuff" i'd never be able to build up a Montero. So even if there was a healthy aftermarket for Montero's it probably wouldn't do me any good because it would mostly be priced out of my reach. Anyway I'm really hoping to turn this into something for all us, I want all of you guys to at least have the option to easily buy all the things you've been wanting for your Montero without having to sell a kidney to get it.
About the lemonade, I was so excited to see a vendor selling lemonade. I had no water and i was really thirsty, I asked the guy "how much for a cup?" he replied "4.99 for 16oz cup it's really good" I just put my head down and walked away Later we walked over to Chrysler's area to tell them they should quit showing off vehicles they never intend to actually sell because it's cruel. Anyway they gave me some free lemonade so instead we just walked on to check out the Unimogs .

Pricisely why I hate the term "Overlanding" simply means wheeling at 10 times the price.

The trouble is that "overlanders" want all the comforts of home. That's not camping. Toasty, I wish you well on trying to market mitsu stuff. Might work if you could go out there and do several orphan brands, like 'zukes, 'zu's, and maybe do modular bumpers/rockbars. Of course, you'd really need to do a cheap incorporation and buy some healthy liability insurance...

Yes, minus license plate and offroad lights, the ones in the bumper should be included.
As for other brands, I'll get into that down the road. We talked a little about that this weekend but first thing is first, taking care of the Mitsu crowd the best I can.
As for jumping into the fire face first again, I think the time is right and the product applies to more of you guys than the things I've done before. I can't wait to be able to post up pictures off all the cool stuff we're going to get.
