So, just to make sure I have this right, the last year for the Gen II is '00, correct? The Gen III starts with the '01 model year? Sorry, not up on my Montero years. smile

Gen II (US/NA) are 92-97. Gen II.5 is 98-00.

Engine through 93 was 3.0 12V for both LS (flatty) and SR (plastic flares), also had RS in early years. 94 LS was still 3.0 12V while SR was 3.5 24V DOHC.

95-96 were 3.0 24V SOHC in LS and 3.5 24V DOHC in SR.

97 was odd in that is was still LS/SR but both now had the 3.5 24V SOHC.

Then 98-00 are the Gen II.5 with the blister fenders and all with 3.5 24V SOHC.

Manual trannies were never behind 3.5s in the US. The 91-94 3.0s had the same tranny, then 95-96 is different. The later ones have a t-case that is more like the bigger SR/3.5 cases, i.e. the earlier MT t-cases can take 2.85 gears and the 95-96 could be fitted with 3.15.

Pretty sure I got all that right... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />
