I had manual steering on my '87 with 31" tires after I cut the belt off and I stayed with it for a whole year. Didn't really bother me too much after the first couple of weeks. Even wheeling (not rock crawling, though) wasn't too bad.

The MM manual box is lower geared than the PS box. The manual 2.0L MM parts delivery truck we had was much less nimble than then PS 2.6L model we had.
