I didn't think Mark's gears would fit the Gen 2.5

You could also swap to a Jeep AW4 tailhousing and run an NP231 or NP242. Stock they are 2.73:1.

Do you not know much about the gen 2 vs 2.5 with the 3.5 engines? Drive trains are identical aside from a few differences in the engine itself. Here is a link for you http://www.marks4wd.com/low-range-gears/mitsubishi.html

Or get lucky and find a Rubicon transfer case. Or a Dana 300 and get some lo--crawler gears at 4:1. That's what I have, just waiting on the $$$ for the gears. And find TOASTY's thread about raising the shock mounts. Awesome flex on the RTI ramp.

The 241 case from the Rubicon pops up every few weeks for sale out here, but 4:1 is a bit too low for a lot of things.

Okay...for AUD$1400 you could probably swap in an NP242, and have easy access to replacement parts, and retain the full-time mode. Plus gain a t-case neutral. I don't see the cost effectiveness of those gears.

marks gears (formerly Hardmanns) do fit Gen 2.5 I have a set of 3.15 in my 97. They have revised the ratio down to 2.70 for new gears. There was a couple of group buys that fell over i believe for them to reissue a limited run of 3.15 again.

I have all the gear now for the nvp242 conversion using a Behemoth strong Box, just got to sort out shifters & driveshafts & get it done!.

Motor spat pulley bolt a week ago, so that is my first priority now, cheers

I have a friend that is breaking his XJ, he's going to give me his AW4 for helping, so I'll have the tailhousing to experiment with.

Yup. 3.15 t case gears would be next to impossible to remake now. Tried a group buy and it fell through.

I'm interested in seeing links of the raised shock towers front and rear?

You don't need to raise shock towers or run any other than stock length with IFS. The rear is where you can improve, there are some crappy pictures of mine on the internets. I've got a new idea I think I may try on PA_JERO's SR and if it works I can put together a kit for my homies. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
