Now she wants me to "help her" overhaul the engine. Talk about give an inch and take mile. LOL.

Judy bought a 1997 Montero SR and it has a lot of miles +230k. As you can imagine, it needs some attention but she really likes the rig. After us having a few conversations about what we want to do with the Montero, we came to the conclusion that we should take care of it. She decided she wants to help me do this and want to get down and dirty with the engine overhaul. So that's the plan. This was the third thing she has really helped me with on this car.

I'll have a good time learning this 3.5L engine set up. I've never really worked on this before so I think it will be fun especially doing this with her. She is so short that she mentioned she want's to wear her 6" heels while wrenchin'. LOL I would love to see that.

She surely is wrenching in style with lipstick, earrings and nail polish (use some gloves at all times).

She is doing awesome, women should look beautiful at all times even when wrenching, YOU GO GIRL!!! Girl Power!!!

Awesome. My woman supports me in the wrench-turning thing, but not on this level. (She would if I asked, though, I bet.)

Kudos to this lady. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Laura helps me all the time, if I ask for help. On the Dukar, she's done a lot, especially when we were putting the engine back together.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
My wife likes it when I go out to turn wrenches because she knows it usually relaxes me, but sometimes she comes out to help as well. 2 years ago when I swapped the transfer case on the Jeep she was my extra set of hands and we got it done. She usually comes out to watch me work and asks if she can help. Last week we replaced our chain link fence and had a good time working on it together, I think couples need to do projects together because it helps us increase our communication outside of the mundane everyday "how was your day" type of dialogue.

Good work Jay, i think more women should get involved with their vehicles at this level. Mrs.Toasty changed the oil and spark plugs on our short lived Forester, i think that maybe that's why she really bonded with that car.

My wife like to sit out in the garage and talk with me while I'm wrenching. Sometimes I really need that.

Only thing that scares me in this world, my wife going before I do...

I've been able to get my younger daughter to get her hands dirty working on her car with me - she just started driving in February and her new car needed some maintenance and minor repairs. She changed the oil, replaced the plugs, and helped me with some of the other repairs. I had her change a tire all by herself just on the off chance that she might need to know how to do it someday, and she buffed and waxed the entire car by herself with my rotary buffer once I had given her some instruction on how not to burn the paint.

As a result I think she has far more appreciation for the work that goes into maintaining a car, and I know that she takes far better care of her car than my older daughter (who was never interested in getting her hands dirty) ever did.
