I've been able to get my younger daughter to get her hands dirty working on her car with me - she just started driving in February and her new car needed some maintenance and minor repairs. She changed the oil, replaced the plugs, and helped me with some of the other repairs. I had her change a tire all by herself just on the off chance that she might need to know how to do it someday, and she buffed and waxed the entire car by herself with my rotary buffer once I had given her some instruction on how not to burn the paint.

As a result I think she has far more appreciation for the work that goes into maintaining a car, and I know that she takes far better care of her car than my older daughter (who was never interested in getting her hands dirty) ever did.
