i'm wondering what spare parts to carry i worry to much about being stranded and would like to have parts and the know how to save myself from a long walk. so whats a must carry ?

Every possible hose, belts, a decent amount of every fluid the truck requires, a few tire plug kits and an air compressor.

And make sure the engine has the most recent crank bolt in it.

i read this and decided it would be a good idea to double check my spares kit before i do this run in a few weeks. and I dont like the prospect of walking either. somehow, somewhere, I lost my spare belts kit. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

the belt store (yep there is a tienda here that just deals with rubber) carries gates and goodyear - which is great! but cant look anything up by vehicle - just sizes - which is not great.

If you do any tough wheeling, swap out your trailing arms for Gen 2 Arms.

how would i know? the po put in a auto zone motor in like 2009 or something like that.

This is definitely something you want to check. crank bolt

read all the way to the bottom. The photo at the bottom is the correct one. At least I hope so as it is what i put in my rig last year.

It can be tough to pull. I used a chain wrench and old fan belt. Lots of good ideas on here how to get it out easily.

Thanks for the list. I only use my car to go where I want, not to go where no one has gone before, so I doubt I need all that stuff. I do carry the manuals and fluids. At one time or another I've blown every water hose, so I try to replace them regularly and carry the replaced for spares. The heater hoses are not so tough to replace if you have a 1/4" drive ratchet with a flex extension and appropriate socket. I have a tool kit. Most of my dedicated space is filled with recovery gear.

all the stuff on my list isn't really essential. at the moment i'm doing some expedition type stuff. i had all the extras just sitting around from the build so i threw them in the box. the only thing i've had to use so far is a spare coil and power unit. not sure which one went bad - i replaced them both on a hunch and the rig runs great. when i get back to civilization i'll carry my basic tools, AAA card, and a cell phone. other than the lack of horsepower i like my 3.0. overall, the vehicle seems pretty tough.

Use an air ratchet.
