Guys, I just got a call from the garage. I dropped my 2005 Montero off to have some coolant pipe on the back of the engine? (that's what they told me was causing my coolant leak. They told me that would be 500 bucks. I said do it. They called and said for another 400 they could do the timing belt and water pump. Since I didn't know for sure if it had been done prior, and I have 97k miles, I said go ahead. A week and a half later they call to tell me it is done. Over 100 bucks more than the estimate, AND they say the check engine light is on (wasn't before) and that the engine has a miss. Reason for miss is damage manifold. They had to take the manifold off to get to that coolant leak, and now my manifold is damaged? They want 1100 to replace the manifold!! I can't believe my luck. My engine did NOT have a miss when I dropped it off.
