Need a Spot
I had that issue as well for my gen 1 montero and found the right one on Rockauto.com. For some reason the local stores couldn't find it, but if it is the 5 pin =-= rockauto has you covered. smile Also it was a pain int he butt to access in my rig...mine was buried on the passenger side way up the wall. Had to take apart pretty much the whole front right side of the dash...Hopefully yours is on the driver.

Kary (Big Blue) sent me a PM, reminding me that the OD solenoid valve circuit, the one that actually powers the valve and enables o/d, on a/t trucks, runs thru the cruise computer. This enables a 4-3 downshift in cruise without having to move the tv cable far enough to make that happen by a very large thtrottle movement. If the truck is at freeway cruise, holding speed on an upgrade ofthen forces a downshift. If the set speed exceeds the actual speed for some set amount of time, the cruise unit triggers the downshift to keep from lugging the motor.

My Raider doesn't have cruise control, so am I correct when I say that the O/D engagement goes Shifter Button>OD Relay>Temp Switch>OD Solenoid?

The fsm has a description of the current flows by device just after the wiring diagram, in the tranny section iirc. Three main power paths. Batt, od off relay, valve is one, for the solenoid power. Batt, ign, shifter switch, od off relay coil power, temp switch, gnd is the second, the o/d relay control circuit. Batt, ign, od off relay, dash light is the third, the indicator circuit. The way the relay is set up, either the light or the solenoid valve has power.

I need to update this. I replaced the temp switch which was busted but it didn't return my overdrive. After some help I found and bought an OD relay on eBay and just installed it. That was it!! OD is back!
