A lot of guys go with the drilled and slotted rotors and the ceramic pads.. You can take what Bondi said to the bank, these things are meant to be on the track making panic stops for 3 or 4 hundred miles at a time. They hardly work at all on the street.
Actually the week link in stopping on ALL vehicles is the tires. Simply changing tread designs will add or subtract ten feet or so in a panic stop from 60 mph.
As long as I am going to do regular driving I just go with the regular stuff.
