Is it possible with out much fabrication to put the Hyundai diesel crate motor in an automatic 4cyl raider? Or would it be better to look for a manual tranny?

It just bolts on, the swap is the most beginner swap possible.

Body Damage is Cool
If it's a pre 2003 engine it should fit without problems. Only thing questionable is the converter on that autobox, diesels like stall speed close to 1000 rpm.

Thanks Toasty. Just wanted to make sure there were no unforeseen issues with an auto tranny.

So I guess I need to show my ignorance. What converter on the auto?
And not sure I understand about stall speed on a diesel?

Thanks for the education though.

I liked the stall on the 4cyl Automatic, the diesel spooled up much quicker than since i swapped in the V6 Automatic. The V6 converter is nice out on the highway, i just click along at 75mph and it's really smooth. At 75mph with the 4cyl converter it wasn't bad but the engine was winding out a little more maybe 100RPM or so extra but it's hard to tell because i don't have a tach yet. As far as a trade off the 4cyl Automatic was better overall, i'd love to try a diesel automatic though just to see what i'm missing out on.

Thanks Toasty, I am still patiently waiting for a good donor vehicle to come my way.

I've got one smile comes with air locking rear, suspension seats, front lsd, aussie crawler gears, rock sliders and a coolish modified stock front bumper. 0 rust and 82k miles

Oh yeah. I think we talked about that as a possibility the last time I was active on this site about a year ago. You sent me lots of pics. Very nice rig! I think the hang up was the cost to ship to TN. I'm looking for an inexpensive second vehicle that i can eventually swap the diesel in.
Below is a possible option. I notice it has the headlight cleaners and a sun roof! Wondering if it might have the rear LSD and a bouncy seat!
