Changing out the cam seals on the '97 Sport 3.0l engine. How deeply should the seal be driven? When I pulled the old one out it was almost to the edge of the tapered part of the head; when I put the new one in, I find it can easily be driven further. Do I drive until it seats, or ???

Anyone? The FSM isn't clear if it's driven only to a specific depth or until it hard seats!

Wheeler
Just to the edge of the taper lets the full width of the front seal or rear cam plug seal fully in the bore.

Uh-oh; I drove it in just a little deeper, maybe 3/16" - is that going to be a problem?
