I'd like to replace that terminal,,,,,if you find one please post a part number and where to get it. Mines repaired but I solder wires close to the plug and it probably going to vibrate and crack. . On your 2,000 rpm after unplugging ICS. If you unplugged it when engine was cold it was unplugged in wide open cold position. Warm the engine up then unplug. . A few years back I got newer used terminals off a Montero sport 3.0. TPS and ICS,,,cut long enough wire with them out of harness to solder in farther unpstream. I wish I could do that on the ICM but all the wires in the just yoard look just like mine on that terminal.

Dave, Rock Auto sells the terminal. Less than $15.That's some good stuff Monty, I'm gonna have to sit down and check out all those other manuals. Always in a hurry when in there.

So I went ahead and bypassed the FIAC valve and the tuck started right up and had a rock solid idle about 900 rpms, I could manually set it where I wanted it by adjusting the screw. I thought I was good to go so i drove it about a mile and it just died. Nothing. So I rolled it back home (fortunately there is a slight hill driving away from my house so I just coast back home) anyway I think i need to go the computer route again, I checked all the wiring nothing is cracked or frayed, I have pretty much eliminated any problems with the throttle body sensors. Timing is good, It would have idled all day if I let it. Got to to search for a good 89 Mits computer now. Anyone got one? . . .

Haztoys, what is this wiring tune-up of which you speak? Un-plug and pull down the wiring all of it ..Clean and OHM the wiring ...Soak the wire plugs in white vineger..That cleans where the wire meets the connector ...Replace the ICM and TPS and MASS plugs ... Take all 'male' pins on the plugs and give them a'little' twist and the 'female' plugs a 'little' crimp so they fit better..Dig the wiring out at the back of the key and clean it ...Delectric grease the whole mess...Open up the ECU and look at it for hot spots..Make sure the ICM motor OHM is good at ICM and ECU plug so the ECU does not get cooked ... Mitsu have sh&^%ty wiring ...Its all can be fixed ..But no one ever wants to do this and chases their a$$ trying to get one to run right ...Peace mealing the wiring is a long road..

First I've heard of doing this on them, used to be a given on MG's and...Fiat's maybe. While I'm grounded, sounds like something I should do.

I would not use the words MG and Fiat in the same breath as Mitsu.... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />... But old Rangerover or 80's Italain Exotic more so no more the pos mind you ... And you have to dick with it all the time ...But in the end fun cars and very trick ...You can't just repair it you have to start over ...and dont get behind on problems

Is that Standard part not available anymore? Toyota of similar era also used many same connectors.
Nathaniel, I did not locate any spare 89 ECUs.
