I bought SR rotors, calipers/brackets, and decent pads from rock auto. I paid something like $160ish, and that included the core charge since I had none to return. Added all new lines, hoses f/r, fluid, rear shoes, wheel seals, and cut drums for a grand total of about $300.
I dont know, but a full rear brake overhaul with front big brake swap for what a shop would charge just for front pads/rotors on a civic? Dont see a reason to skimp out on the best and get LS brakes.
88 Montero, StarQuest turbo, Kormex 5speed +tuff-pan w/phoenix f. stage2 clutch, 4in lift+33' tires, 4.875 lsd, short-throw shifter, Aisin hubs, SR big brakes, gen2 uca's, elantra alt, and so much more... 16g turbo w/hardpipes + 4.90 locking disk-brake axle soon (maybe lsd or aussie front??)

I don't think there is any "skimping" going on with the Montero Sport setup. It's the same size rotor and dual piston caliper as the SR from what I can tell. I believe the only difference in the caliper is where the fluid line mounts in.
As always, somebody correct me if I'm wrong (entirely possible).

Maybe I'm not understanding, but that's what it seams Dav just said above. That the gen1 v6 rotors are the same as LS rotors, which I thought are smaller than SR.

The Gen 1 V6 front rotors are thinner (22.0mm) than the Gen 2 rotors. These rotors should not be mixed with the Gen 2 caliper. I need to get a spindle nut socket I have this tool. You can borrow it if needed. I'm about 30 miles east of you. and also some shorter bolts for bolting the new rotor to the hub I found it difficult to find these high grade bolts in our area. Ended up ordering from Fastenal (paid too much I'm sure).

FWIW, Ace Hardware normally has a good stock of metric 10.9 if you're looking. Also, Grainger Supply for more odd things.

Thanks for the offer - very much appreciated. I found one for $20 at the local O'Reillys, and modified it already.
Got the 10.9 bolts at the local True Value. They aren't fine thread, but I bought new nuts and lock washers along with the bolts, so I'm all set ($35 total - I'm sure I paid too much too). Got the hub/rotor assembly mounted (with the bearings repacked with new grease, and a new inner seal), and the proper tension set. The mosquitos came out shortly thereafter, and I went in before putting the manual hubs on. Will try and get to that later this week.
I appreciate everyone's help with this, and am glad this thread will be around to help somebody else. Seems there was some confusion in the ranks. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

phl , I believe the gen 1 V6 ,,, 92-94 Gen 2 LS ,,,and MS with 3.0,,,the rotors are the same thickness ,,, ,,the SR has different thichness rotors. At least that's what I've dug up. Please correct me if I'm wrong because I'm running my Gen 1 V6 rotors with LS calipers and I'm not ready to die yet. I admit I know nothing about the 2.6 setups and interchangeability.

FWIW, I just went and measured the Montero Sport rotors I purchased and they are 24mm thickness.

Finish it with some braided sst lines: 2x RUS-656242 (Front Hoses)
3x RUS-641411 (10mm to AN3 adapters)
Hey PLH, does that front hose you mentioned replace the 2 pieces, 1 piece, or all 3? From the hard line at the frame, there is a rubber hose, which connects directly to another rubber hose at a point mounted to the suspension, which goes to the metal line on the caliper (at least that's how it is on my 4-cylinder). That's 3 different sections. I have my caliper installed and working on one side, but the line configuration is messed up, and I'm looking to do a stainless flex line to replace it all.

Well, I finished up the upgrade today. Absolutely a huge increase in braking power.
That said, I think I'll need the larger master cylinder. It takes a bit of travel to get the brakes to really start kicking in.
I took like 50 pictures, so I could create a "how to" for the process. Look for that soon.
