So back in the day, I sold my 89 4Door Monty (Betsy #3) to a buddy, who chopped it very nicely (search for "Beer and Cutting tools"). He had it for a long time and then sold it to another buddy of mine. We just found a 90 Montero for sale locally, which is a rarity in itself. Needs an ignition module or something, but it is CHEAP. It'd be a great candidate for a L/U torque converter swap into Betsy #3. But how can we tell for sure? I remember it being A44D versus A44DL? Is this right? Any chance there's a tag we can find on the tranny that'll say this?

A search of our history here gives me the impression that they changed somewhere in the mid 90 model year, and that all the 91s had them. This one's a 90. Wonder how we can tell definitively? It it was for sure a L/U model, he'd probably buy it and swap lots of stuff over.
