1993 Montero SR

The fuel line connector at the fuel pump is corroded or ??. It does not want to break loose. I have soaked it for several hours with penetrating oils. Still stuck!!

Any tricks or suggestions?

I don't want to stip or break the connector or cut the rubber hose as finding a replacement hose will likely be difficult.

Probably not corroded, they just have a lot of surface area friction to overcome, and the fastener material is soft and will round off. Use a pair of flare nut wrenches. Use acetone and dexron half and half as a penetrant. I think only one end of the hose has a swivel connector, so you may have to take both loose. It's one of my most hated v6 jobs.

If you find you have to cut the hose, all is not lost. You can whiz wheel or hacksaw the metal hose crimps off and cut off the hose and either have a hydraulic hose shop crimp on new hose or use FI fuel hose and double hose clamps. It's only about 40psi...

When I replaced the fuel pump on mine, I knickned the fuel hose. I took it to a hydraulic hose shop down the road from my work and they cut off the factory ends and put on a stainless steel braided Teflon hose on for under $20.

Same here it took the guy about 10 minutes to replace the rubber on mine with stainless. Glad I found out about that service.

Just a quick sanity check.... What penetrating oil are you using?
