It is under the shifter cover . There is a write up somewhere on here. Take the cover off where your shifter is- There is in the driver side of the shifter a little slide type switch. It gets gunked up over time. A couple screws and it cafefully comes out. I had cleaned mine several years ago with Q-tips and Alcohol - Then put it back. Good as new. It you move shifter back and forth it should make contact again to start truck. I think it is more of a Park/Neutral safety switch.

I was lazy, I just wired around mine. That means it will crank in gear, which is of course less dangerous, but I always crank it with a foot on the brake anyway, so I'm safish, and a barbarian...
I was wondering if that little thingy under the shift cover with the wires coming out of it was it...and considered weather i could jumper it but i am sort of anal about things like that because i know from experience - it will come back and bite me in the arse someday. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> Thanks for the help guys. Let you know if it works!

I found said switch and cleaned it. With ign on, I can move the switch and hear "clicking" from the tranny. I think that there must be another switch somewhere because it still won't start. The manual says there is another one bolted in to the side of the tranny. Anyone know about this one??

Ok Eddy, I need your advice on this. I have proved that no voltage is getting to the starter solenoid wire and in the process proved the starter works by shorting the solenoid to the big power wire. It cranked and scared the hell out of me. So the starter works.
I would like to drive to work tomorrow so can you tell me how to jumper past the the neutral safety switch? There are four wires - two red/blu and two blk/yel. I don't have a wiring diagram but if anyone does, it would be appreciated. Haynes is missing the starter diagram from the manual. thanks guys!!
