I bought my first Raider in 93 or so and promptly swapped in a turbo motor. I put up a link with some random Raider pics I have taken over the years. I included a couple of pics of the two Raider I lost to accidents. Raider #3 is due for some TLC.... Now that I have a new shop, I suppose this is the year to do it. Raider Pics New Shop

You bought in 93. and then turboed? Then I was first? With the turbo D50 red pickup with the 85 conquest turbo motor? I always thought you beat me to it, and did it better with the best of the starquest systems. I had the crazy 85.5 alternating injector setup.
I've always been amazed that we could talk other people into trying it, and pulling it off.

I've always been amazed that we could talk other people into trying it, and pulling it off. The turbo swap to the Raider had to be in late 93 early 94 since that was when I moved to the west coast. The turbo Arrow was at around three years before that. The Arrow started to rust pretty badly so I moved the Starion engine from the Arrow to the Raider. There were a couple of others that did similar swaps around that time, the guy from vermont ( he used to post on here and I'm blanking on his name), and the mechanic from the mitsubish race team.

Couple weeks back i watched a malaysia offroad video from the late 90's and one of the competitors had a turbo'd gen 1 lwb. Mitsu should have offered the injected turbo 2.0 that they offered in japan to the rest of the world instead of the carby 2.6, i wonder how things would have turned out had they done so.

Hmm. Fave engines for a swap...
Easiest is the 2.6t. Ideal is probably the 2.4dohc turbo. But there's a lot to be said for the 4.3 gm swap of engine and tranny/tcase, in large part due to the fact that you can buy parts anywhere, anytime, anyhow, and there's a huge aftermarket, too.
I'm not a diesel freak, but I bet there's have been a lot more sold with any of the good diesels from mitsu.

Sigh... If only I'd stopped myself after the 1st '87 Raider. But that damn KM-145 kept breaking on me, and, well, I had to get the '87 auto. It's a curse, I tell ya.
