I remember when it was just you and eddie with the turbo trucks on the board.

Nice picture? Speaking of pictures.... I have links to pictures in my first post. That includes pictures of most of my turbo swaps.

Anyone remember the old board we used to post on that got a bit out of hand before most of us came to this one. Or the new board where all the cool guys now post?

AFAIK, no picture of the red d50 exists. Picture a bone stock base model d50 power ram short cab long bed, bucket seats 5spd, 4 rect headlights, very slightly chewed around the edges. sitting on 255-75-15's, torsion bars cranked.

3.91 open diffs. Conquest cruise control stalk installed on rs of steering column, cruise brain installed, cruise vac actuator, vac pump, vac reservoir, and all asssociated lines and valves installed, never figured out the wiring since what I had was about 60 wires in the donor wiring to match up to the d50 harnesses.

Not that you guys are tops, and pioneers in every sense... OldColt did his circa '89-90 I believe. It was an 87 he bought nearly new and swapped about two years later.

Speaking of turbos and OldColt, I finally got my SWB back on the road after too many years sitting in the garage/yard waiting for me to get motivated to dealing with it running hot. Charlie modded a Griffin aluminum rad for me and life is good. Or, it was good. Put about 100 local miles on while running through a tank of now crappy Egas. The other day the PS rear shock mount broke off the frame. Not sure yet if it can be patched together. If it can't, it will be the end of my turbo SWB, as I have no appetite or time to do a frame swap. If I am going to spend that money and time, it would go towards something else car-related.

Keep your fingers crossed for me. All these years of it waiting for me to start driving again, and it would be such a downer if I don't...

That was the name I couldn't come up with... When I did the swap on my Fire Arrow, the local speed shop mentioned a guy up north that had done the same swap ( I lived in Boston at the time). Small world that all these years later we end up on the same BBS.

Good luck o the repairs!

Getting info pre internet was a lot more work.

Wow, can't believe that you and Charlie nearly crossed paths way back then.

Had a friend with a Fire Arrow back when they came out. Then in 85 I had an 82 Challenger. I remember the MCA Jet sticker on the rear glass.

My new Arrow has a small amount of rust on the rear of each quarter panel which i will fix because i hate rust.

It's amazing how much the old Mitsu car community crosses into the truck world, it's like a bunch of the same guys who hang around on this forum and/or their brothers, cousins or uncles. Small world indeed, i would say it's because Mitsu guys are really tight as a group and there's not a ton of us. I should start a thread for everyone to post up their old MItsu steel just to see who's got them.

My senior year in college, back in '85, we were shopping for a cheap car for me to get to job interviews and such. Two choices, a 78 Mustang that ended up the choice, and a 77 Colt. I/we liked the Colt, but it blew a little smoke out the tail, so we went with the Mustang.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda...

I have started thinking more to something sporty down the road, as the kids are getting older. The early 80s 280ZX-T has me enamoured. But, then I get all hung up on the non-Mitsu factor.

Thinking back more, the SQ was a pretty forward looking ride back in those days. So for someone to then take its motor and drop it into something else would have been pretty freakin' badass at the time.
