2002 Sportage, just replaced the motor, old one still running but had 300K and someone gave me one out of a wreck with only 56K. Driving along and suddenly no power, thought I had run out of gas fuel gauge read 3/4 tank, but hey they can be wrong. Put gas in it and nothing, it'll start but quits almost instantly. If I remove the top vacuum line and spray starter fluid in it will run so I know it's a fuel problem. New fuel pump and filter, tried replacing the fuel pump relay. haven't checked the fuel pressure regulator yet but reaching out to see if anyone else has had this problem.

Sounds like you need to hook up an OBDII reader and pull the codes. That's the best place to start when you have a severe unknown. Post the code(s) once you have 'em.

Thanks for the input, but I was able to locate the problem once I figured out that it was definitely fuel related I pulled the fuel pump back out and while everything looked good with it out I pressed down on it to simulate its' position in the tank and the hose that was supplied with the A/M pump started to kink cutting off the supply of fuel. replaced it with an LKQ and we're off and running.
