I would not do a compression test. A valve may be stuck extended, and you could do more damage. What speed was the engine at when the belt broke? This will give you an idea of how much damamge was done.

Ultimately, you'll have to pull at least one head, probably both, before you know what it's going to cost.


I don't recall exactly, road speed was about 45, so not terribly high RPMs. I was probably in 3rd or 4th gear. Not accelerating.

One head is almost out (pass side), but I can't clear the exhaust, which is unbolted. Also I haven't removed the accessory bracket, but I guess I'll have to. Lots of little clips and brackets to keep track of on top of the engine O.o. I haven't had much time to work on it but will have that head out tonight! If it looks okay, then I'll pull the other side, if it has damage, I'll look for a set of good, used heads.
