If you take the exhaust apart at the under truck wye, where the pside and dside converge, it should be a lot easier to pull the head. I pull the head with the exh mani still attached.


I started to, got one nut removed, can't get to the other one with a long enough wrench. I have Cali emissions so there's these pre-cats in the way. I swear everything I need to get to on this engine requires 5 other things to be removed.


To be clear, I'm trying to unbolt the passenger's side exhaust manifold from the downpipe. The inner nut is blocked by the starter and pre-cat (which also makes getting the starter out a real nightmare). I can get a socket on it, but not with a straight shot to it from underneath. Pain in the butt.
