Duarte,
I'm not sure if you NEED the holes or not. But from every image I've researched on 1989 Dodge Raider 3.0L Throttle Body Gasket, those three holes do not appear.

Good luck.

Thank you!

If you are going to run the water thru for heating that up because of cold/cool weather, then it would make sense to. I live in Florida, I don't run the water to that plate, so I didn't bother with those holes. My $.02

Alright I made pattern and gasket material. Notice the way the heating unit has the grooves somewhat matching some of the openings on the throttle body.

What about those 3 smaller holes on the edge of the throttle body?

I made a pattern from which to cut the gasket material:

Do I make an opening on the gasket for heat from the heating unit to make contact with air passing through those holes?

Apparently, the 3 small holes were drilled for no purpose?

I vaguely remember those passages tying into the vacuum fittings. Check that. I deleted the entire egr system with all its hoses and such. I capped the fittings, and didn't bother with opening those holes

I think I have spares of these gaskets. Need to recheck my stores when I get home this evening.

I also have a brand new NOS heat plate set up that might also include the gaskets.

Will check in later.

OK, quite an extensive follow-up to come here.

the standard paper gasket for the throttle body to plate is a Fel-Pro #60814. I've had trouble finding this available on some sites, but if you Google it there's a few odd-ball sites that still have listings. Google even showed Amazon had a picture on their site, but when you search the part number itself, there are no listings. Strange.

Now to the O-ring part. I thought I had an extra one or two, but what I had turned out to be an old heater plate set-up I salvaged off an old rig and the old o-ring itself I had removed that is already flattened, but otherwise in good shape:

Notice in the above image the 3 holes are actually closed off, so no need to worry about allowing an opening on the gasket itself.

Now this gasket is already used, but I still do have a new NOS/OEM kit including an instruction sheet with - you guessed it - part numbers! Sadly, the o-ring itself does not have it's own part number per Mitsubishi, it says it's included with a new heat plate. a cursory check of a few Mitsu part sites show it's still available for around $75 for this hunk of aluminum with a new o-ring. Strangely, I could not get any hits for the entire kit part number.

At $75 to get a new o-ring (with a new plate) - that's one expensive gasket!

I do work for a gasket maker and with time it might be possible to ask my prototype shop to make several dozen, but it becomes a bit sketchy when attempting to make a gasket that might still have a patent on the design. And being a singular model year design, I'm sure there's not much demand for it anyway to make this all worthwhile.

As for my NOS kit - I might be interested in selling it, but knowing it's rarity now and how difficult it is to get that damn o-ring, it might have to be one heck of an offer to let it go.

Permatex gasket maker might do just as well - just be sure not to use too much where it creates a gap in between the mounting surfaces causing it to "float".

It's not possible to patent a specific gasket design (unless it's a completely new material technology), or companies like FelPro would have been sued to death decades ago. Auto manufacturers are not permitted to restrict aftermarket companies from duplicating their parts for the purpose of providing service replacements.

Thank you for the sage information. I need that black "o" ring as my home made gasket is way off the mark for that heating plate.

After contacting California Rep. Rob Bonta's office, the California Bureau of Automotive Repair concluded that the heating plate is not a smog part. On 07/17/15 Wesley Roddy, wesley.roddy@dca.ca.gov, the Bureau of Automotive repair confirmed that the heating plate is not a smog compliance part because it cannot be located in any of the BAR's emission guidebooks.

On a related note, Fel-Pro 60814, throttle body gasket (not the gasket for the heating plate) is no longer available in the United States. The Wrench Monkey in Canada has them. Do the members of the club want me to order a bunch for the club? They sell for $1.80 CAD, and ship for $9.95. That way we can save on shipping. Please advise.
