Need a Spot
Hello All,

IÆve looked back through the archives, and cannot find but one post back in Æ07 relating to my problem that went un-answered. So I am going to ask this question again as it may apply to others by now.

I have an Æ01 Rodeo LS. The cabin fan/blower will not shut off; runs at ¥ speed continuously. This problem started intermittently. IÆd be driving along, everything fine, and the blower turns on. Turn the ignition off, restart, and everything is fine for a couple weeks/days. Interval began getting shorter between occurrences. Now it starts blowing when ignition switch is turned on, or shortly after Rodeo is running.

I checked the switch against the A/C functions, and everything is working fine. Even when this was intermittent, the fan switch worked fine, so I do not believe the switch is the problem. Every so often, the ABS idiot light comes on when the Rodeo is started, but otherwise works fine.

If anyone has any ideas what may be causing the fan to run continuously, please let me know.

Thanks,

Rich

There is a resistor block on the side of the blower box that is controlled by the switch. It is not uncommon for this resistor block to fail.

Thanks for the reply Jim.

I have tested/checked the resistor. It checks ok. Even plugged in a new one to confirm. Same results; blower comes on when ignition switch is turned on. Looking at Isuzu manual, there is nothing else in this circuit. Beginning to believe I have a PCM gremlin.

SIDENOTE: Saw where the control module is located for the wiper delay. I can barely get two fingers on it. Don't know how I am going to get my hand up there to unscrew it. (The relays need replaced.)

Anyway... Any other thoughts on the blower issue will be appreciated.

Hello All,

Just a followup with my results.

I suspect there was a short in the wiring. I pulled the control cluster out of the dash and checked the switch. It was ok. I tested the fan and switch at various stages of reassembly and everything worked as it should.

It has been several weeks now, and all is working fine. So as I mentioned above, I can only figure it was a short. Just thought I would let you know in case anyone else runs into this problem.
