Has anybody done it? Found a pretty complete 84 montero at the yard. Should have what I need. I'm thinking there will be in intermediate wire harness, relay, switches, door cards even match my interior, and window regulator and motor. I would think the tracks will be the same, but the windows may need to be replaced too, not sure without looking at them and comparing to mine. I know it may sound silly and a lot of work but I like doing that stuff and it's my daily driver now.

As tough as a V8 engine swap? maybe not, but damn tough. The mechanism is the tough part. If I recall much of the wiring is there, but getting the frames and cables all installed right...I would not attempt it.

The doors are the same. All the holes for the motors and screw placements already exist. However, you'll have to make your own harness to get power to the doors, as Mitsu in their vision did not make the harnesses modular, but based upon the options for each particular chassis....based upon the vehicles I've parted down only.

Tracks and glass are the same, just will take your sweet time for the install. I almost did this conversion for my Raider using all the 4-door parts I've had.

Body Damage is Cool
I will soon be attempting this on my 1989 Raider and plan on fully documenting the how to.

Based on the Pajero I had in Australia:
The window circuit is made by grounding it.
I would do each door (on a 2dr) separately and not worry about controlling the passenger side window from the driver's side.

So I'm not the only one. I was going to ask the very dame question come spring.

My doors have gotten so bad from offroading... Only ones I can find are power. I ended up banging my current ones back into shape and was going to swap the power window stuff over, as I don't want to bother painting silver doors blue.

So your saying the hard part is swapping the power regulator and getting it all to line up? So it would just be easier to swap the whole doors and paint them?

OP, maybe that would be a good option for you too? Just swap the whole doors?

Bernoulli... So your saying there are no relays or modules? Just run power and ground and all the rest is in the door?

You really miss this one ...

Doors are the same .... (The Montys 'I've' played with..) The wirings in the truck to the door frame and the wiring for the relay is there ... But

Theres a few different ways Mitsu did it... So the wiring you 'find' may need to be played with to get it all to work ...Key is to see if your truck has ......What ...?

Power window power locks or .....?

The stock power windows in my '86 are so weird that they ONLY work when the engine is running. They will not work when the key is in any position when the engine is not running, and it was that way before the swap from the stock 2.6 to the 2.4 that's in it now. When the engine dies with the windows down, it's not great if you can't get it started again for, say, a month...

I don't think the regulators are going to be the hard part. The crank should be similar to the regulator just with a motor attached. I think the more challenging part is going to be wiring the relays figuring our where the best place to put it all. I'm going to pull the dash and replace the 87 with the 89 dash for round speakers and it's in better shape then mine anyhow so I have all the access I'll need. I looked at the repair manual and looks petty straight foward, not sure what the sub switch is all about but.. Thinking I can tap into the fuse box already on my harness, there is two unused spots.. Going to the yard tomorrow so I'll let you all know what I find out. If I do it I'll document the build too.
