For the slight difference in price between the little 235 donuts and 31" tires, I'd go just a bit bigger. These fit nice on the stock rims, no clearance issues at any time, and will provide better onroad feel than the skinny treads.

NorCal snows were no issue for the BFG A/Ts. I've used the Geolander A/Ts and was unhappy with the wear...gone in 15k miles. One of my friends has been using the BFG Rugged Terrains with good service.
