Body Damage is Cool
Ok dudes. Saturday Dec 27th. Meet up is at Quik Trip on University and Ellsworth SE corder at 8am. We are going to run up to butcher Jones off of Bush Hwy and go up to 4 peaks rd. I have only ever done this once and it was by accident. So it won't be perfectly thought out but it was alot of fun. Who's in? Going up to 4 peaks is optional. The plan is to get to 4 peaks Rd and head out towards the 87 and back home. Make sure to bring drinks and snacks. Also pack a lunch. We can stop at the lake for a lunch. Unlike crown king there is no bar or restaurant at the end of this one.

Like crown king, this is a very moderate trail with a few challenging obsticals. Stock vehicles are fine for this trail. And a very good trail for people getting used to the 4 wheeling thing.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!WHAT ABOUT BOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are working towards getting Jorge's '86 on the trail and hope to make this one. Yesterday we removed the old gas tank, and good thing we did. The old tank was so gunked up that no fuel would flow from it, then we saw the hole that had rusted through the top as we lowered it from the truck. I had been hanging onto a replacement tank for my turbo truck for years and I got it out of the shed and looked inside - perfect. After using the shop vac and compressed air to remove any dust and make sure all the fittings were clear, Jorge went to NAPA to get a new fuel filler hose ($37, 2" diameter). We then shot compressed air back down the open lines after spraying carb cleaner in them and reconnected the tank to the lines. Tonight we'll put some gas in the tank and try to get some fuel to spew through the new fuel pump.

Next up is figuring out the fuel line fittings on the rebuilt carb we have ready to install and reconnect the vacuum lines (I actually have a diagram for the vac lines). A couple of more details and we may be good to go.

At least we hope so. This truck has never been driven by us, but has a LOT of new parts including a clutch, Clearwater head and a whole bunch of stuff I've forgotten. I'll take special pride in getting it going since we've been working (and painting everything but the body) since late summer. For a basic 2.6 truck, this one is really special to us and we're really looking forward to showing it off.

I'm in, for realz this time. Maybe i can get a map from Mesa Rangers to make it easy on us. The side by sides and ATVs have cut a lot of trails leading to nowhere out there

Is this the map you want?

I'm tentatively in. Just got my carb all cleaned out and back together so the first time i've driven my truck faster that 20mph was last night. Did a little test wheeling on some dirt in my back yard, need to test the 4 wheel drive and make sure the radiator is up to task (seems ok)

I was hoping to hit some baby trails beforehand to really work out the kinks but timing is not my forte <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

I might have to drop my truck at the exit point and then ride back to mesa with someone so i can snatch my van/trailer. I wont have plates for my truck until the end of January. Comical to trailer a stock rig, but gotta keep it legal.

Alpha, I'm digging the wheels and tires. Tell me more about them or point me to a previous thread if you've already described them.

I'll be there. This will be the first time I've wheeled this truck. I had a Raider before though, so I'm not a total n00b to Mitsu 4x4s.

I'm looking forward to meeting you guys. I live close to PA_JERO, he's a good dude.

I've been to Butcher a bunch of times, but never in a Mitsu. I had a Series 1 Discovery, a couple LR3s, and a TJ Wrangler that have all been on that trail. Great views. I've never been to Four Peaks though.
