Yes, the core it self is thinner, like about 1/2 inch. But with the case that surounds the core it fills up almost the whole hole. I think it moves about an eighth, but with the insulation foam its sturdy...

http://youtu.be/VyDP1QUncHg

I will be working on the HVAC removal next. Thank you for your patience for those that have PM'd me thank you for your support.

Things I Learned

1. Your blinkers wont work with our the Hazards switch plugged in

2. This job isnt as bad as the FSM makes it look

3. I really like working on my car.

4. Take your time when custom work is needed.

5. There are different evap and expansion valve setups.

Enjoy...

Hey I just tried to view the video. YouTube says the video is Private. You need to change it to public.

I just watched your video. That is excellent content, great job. I changed the heater core on my old 1997 Montero SR. I also went through this pain staking process of removing the dash.

I would suggest that if you have any light bulbs that are out in your dash or your center console, now is the time to change them. I made the mistake of not doing it myself at the time and had to go back into the dash a second time.

Great Idea... I was thinking about moving all my alarm/remote starter to the center console. I will look for a change all my bad bulbs, And probably do the LED swap out.

Thanks for the info on the video, much appreciated.
