I need some help with installing a snorkel on my 1997 Montero. I bought the one from Ebay that doesn't come with any hardware. I was wondering if anyone could help me out on what to buy and maybe provide some general instructions on what I should do and how to start.
I checked the post by off-roader, but all the pictures have expired and I cannot see what I need to do.

Does it at least come with a mounting template?
Which one did u buy? An actual safari snorkel or a clone?
As for hardware, be sure you buy stainless steel or it will rust out.
You'll also need a hole saw.

And I have seen your post, but I am more of a visual learner and I think the pics have expired from there.

I'm a visual learner too, but I can't find those old pics rt now. I can tell you the install is straight forward for the most part.

The template is pretty much spot on.

You'll need to fabricate tubing from the snorkel (round opening) to the intake hose (oval opening). I used a piece of plastic rain gutter fitting to do this along with lots of tape. I'm not sure what the tape was but it's available from home depot. IIRC, it was aluminum on one side. Thick black adhesive on the other side. Grasscat knows for sure.

Again, use stainless steel hardware to mount it or you'll be sorry.

Ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Oh and I do have the rig so I can go out to take some "after" pics if it helps.

My main concern is the mounting. Should I just buy some bolts with some nut locks and some washers?
So basically I'm just going to be cutting a big hole, running a hose form the snorkel to the air intake, seal all possible places air could come through, and then mount the snorkel onto the vehicle?

Yes, I have. They are all mostly installation of complete kits. Whereas the one I bought comes only with A-frame mounting hardware. But it seems simple enough.

IIRC, for the bracket on the A-pillar we used stainless steel rivets and marine grade epoxy (or it might have been rtv). For the fender mounts we removed the inner fender and bolted the Snorkel in place.

Also iirc we may have given copies of the installation pics to rexypow.
