Hey guys picked up a '94 LS Montero today for cheap.

[Linked Image]

After replacing the water pump the previous owner says it threw a rod. He can turn the engine about a quarter turn then it seizes.

Have a line on a 3.0 from from a '99 Sport, would this engine be a direct swap? concerned the ECU will not be compatible.

Thanks,
~ Jon

It'll be close, that '94 should have the earliest 24v 3.0. You'll be swapping the oil pan and pickup tube for sure though.
Check to make sure you have crank and cam sensors on both trucks then i'd say go for it.

Now if your '94 is a 12v it's a lot more involved.

Note: 12v has 1 coil and 24v has 3 <easiest way to tell if you're not familiar
