Need a Spot
Hi all!

I recently got a service on my 2000 wrangler and they said I have "a touch or rust on my under-body, nothing to worry about".

I take it down the coast about once every month and go camping on the beach. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a prevention spray of some sort that will help prevent any further rust?

I do wash her after each each trip but I guess I cant reach some spots Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No ideas from me! Here in Texas the barbed wire fences hung in 1860 are still good! Someone from a coastal area will have to answer.

The newer Wranglers have galvanized body which slows the effects of rust. However, contact with road salt and ocean water is an issue to address.

First step is preventative maintence. After your trips to the beach, give the undercarriage a good washing.

For the spots, clean it good with a wire brush and apply a quality primer coat of paint, followed by a top coat of regular auto body paint. I would use a high temp resistant paint.

BTW, Rust Bullet (see ad banner at top of page) provides good quality automotive paints.

Thanks mate! Yeah I noticed that but wasnt sure if it was just for paint or not.

I will be tackling the rust spots this weekend with a bit of luck. I found some stuff called Fluid Film and got a couple of cans, I'll give the under body a good coat after the scrub

Thanks for your help guys!
