My 89 v-6 keeps dying, Ill be driving along and all of the sudden it just dies, the tach drops to 0, no sputtering, Ill coast for about 5 seconds and bam, it starts up again, untill yesterday, he coasted all the way to a stop, dummy lights came on and wouldn't start again, after about 15 minutes, and a bit of cranking, boom fired up, drove it back home 10 miles and parked it. I have a good idea what the issue is, just wanted to see what other people thought before I spend the money. Thanks. METALMOVER

The 'plug' at the igniter or TPS is bad...

The 'plug' at the igniter or TPS is bad... That is exactly what I thought, since mine did the same thing. While idling, go grab the wires and pull them back and forth.

I agree with the other suggestions check the wires near the coil; igniter, capacitor and lc filter if you still have those.

No, on mine it was the actual connection. Since then I have done one of thowe "Haztoys" wiring tune ups, well sort of. I have done the vinegar and distiller water part. Just got.some picks so I could actually mess with the connectors. Oil gauge is steadier, voltmeter doesn't have to be slapped anymore. Idle is better, etc. sounds like age has caught up electrically with yours a bit too.

Good to see someone try the 'Wiring tune up'... Now your ECU is not going crazy now ... Did you noticed the wires 'going dark' at the plugs under the hood .. See lots of died Mitsu's with all the wires under the hood 'going dark' at the plugs ..Its about the copper wire not liking where they meet the conecters...Over time ...
Mitsu's dont have bad ECU's ..Its the wires to the ECU that kills the ECU...

Anyone have a link to the "wiring tune up". I see a lot of my probably future here. FWIW I searched it and nothing came up.
