Good to see someone try the 'Wiring tune up'... Now your ECU is not going crazy now ... Did you noticed the wires 'going dark' at the plugs under the hood .. See lots of died Mitsu's with all the wires under the hood 'going dark' at the plugs ..Its about the copper wire not liking where they meet the conecters...Over time ...

Mitsu's dont have bad ECU's ..Its the wires to the ECU that kills the ECU...

Lots of dark wires, sure it has a lot to do with things not working right.

Anyone have a link to the "wiring tune up". I see a lot of my probably future here. FWIW I searched it and nothing came up.

Mongo, in mitsubishilinks.com, there is a manual for the 89 3.0, called "Driveability and something else" There is a page in therethat has all the connectors on the engine. I ran off that page and used it as a checklist. Sorry, can't link it from my phone, can't use the laptop, my lady is doing her homework.

Need a Spot
A few years ago I had a similar issue with an '89 3.0. It would kill as if keyed off, then restart in a while and run fine. It got peogressively worse. Turned out to be the optical sensor in the distributor, about $60 from Rockauto.

Well, I sent the ECU off to AVPRO in Fla.talked to nick you guys were right the ECU was fine, he did clean all the connectors cause the had scaling on them although I did the soak em in vinegar remedy 3 months ago, he didn't charge me anything very honest guy. Id recommend them.So I proceeded to pull all the electrical connectors I could get to(including the TPS and Ignitor)no brown wires...sprayed electrical cleaner in all of them, lightly rubbed the connectors with a emery board to remove scaling? cleaned and re-cleaned and gave em all a shot of wd-40... Well I have to drive about 40 miles in the old boy to push snow this afternoon.... anyone think it could be the fuel pump????Wish me luck MM
