Silly bolt! Removed the timing cover for Heath may have done in the bolt I have, but it was sheared along the threads at the front edge of the engine. ;(

If the bolt sheared when it was running, in most cases its from the balance shaft chain being loose and letting the chain slap.

I'm still looking for the TSB on the bolt torque, the dealer might be able to help you. That and make sure you have a lock washer between the bolts shoulder and the block. A missing washer puts a side load on the bolt and forces the guide crooked.

Need a Spot
I had slack in my balance chain and waited too long to address it. Idling in traffic at a red light one morning, the chain or guide let loose. I heard the metallic clang, then no noise and the engine continued to run smoothly, but oil pressure dropped to zero. Pulled off within 100 yards and shut the engine down.
Once I took the timing cover off, balance chain was broken and had dropped to oil pan and two guides were broken. The guides were pretty worn.
I have everything replaced, including the timing chain and oil pump, since I'm in here. The broken guide bolt shows a torque of 6-7 ft-lbs in the fsm; is that still correct.
I also have a question regarding priming the oil pump. I still have the timing cover off, but the new oil pump is installed. Where do I introduce the 10ml of oil into the pump. There is a small open cavity at the top of the pump casing that appears to have a small hole in the bottom. If oil is added here does it flow into the pump?

Thanks
