Awesome write-up Jay! I should ask John to make it a hosted 4x4wire article rather than just a forum thread.

Update: He will work on it this evening.

Great detailed procedure. I was wondering if the motor had quit working or was this just a preventive measure?

I have two spare doors from a 88 or 89 that has power windows. I have used the windows over time and don't really need the doors now. Maybe I can recondition the regulators on both and put them in the parts inventory before letting the doors go.

Both regulators worked but were very slow to roll up. I suppose you can call this preventative maintenance.

Thanks for this write up.

My driver's side is now acting funky. The regulator works, but when closing it all the way, it doesn't raise then stop/seal (normal behavior). It oscillates around 1/4" between slightly open and fully sealed when trying to close it. Like it's trying to latch onto the last spline of the gear but not catching it fully.

Is that fixable or am I looking at a new window regulator?
