Need a Spot

One of my friends has been looking at getting a new or near new crossover. He has narrowed it down to these 2 cars. After driving them both I have to admit I liked driving the CX-5 slightly more but oblivious I like the look of the Patriot allot more.
I was wondering if anyone who has owned either for a while has come across any issues or just what you would choose and why?
