Read the stickied "bible" info on t-cases, still not sure I know the answer, hoping for some guru - feedback.

I believe the chain is loose or gears are worn?, slipping under load (not a great sound) in my 89 v6 5 speed raider. (years of duning and mudding with 33's I guess will do that...)

Will the t-case from a 4 cyl work? ( I have a couple spares of those, but none for v6.)

I hate to sink much $ into it, on her last leg as far as rust goes - frame is mostly patches...)
