It's a simple potentiometer. Changes resistance as it turns with the throttle so the 5 volt input is something less on the output depending on position.

Tells computer when you're on/off idle, when WOT, also tells computer how fast throttle is opened to give more fuel. With MAP/MAF and rpm gives computer engine load. Also can tell trans when to shift.

There's not much too it, mostly plastic with a spring, wiper, and windings.
