Just wondering if any one has a rear gen 1 lsd they would like to sell?
Thanks
Mike

The lsd kind if sucks. Remember, I put one in simply because it came along with my 4.88 diff, not because I wanted it. When finished swapping, I left one wheel up on a jack stand and tried to drive off. It had a little grip, but didn't make it off the jack.
Maybe if you can score a very very low mileage one it might be ok. My mustang's high mileage lsd didn't even have an ounce of grip before the diff died, and when I found a 55k mile used axle, that lsd was better, but still not impressive. Just enough to get out of frozen parking spots,
If you bought new clutches or restacked it in a better fashion then you'd get some real grip, but for all that work just get a locking axle? Or is that easier said than done in Canada?
Worst case when I do the 4.90 locking axle swap, I can send you the lsd piece when I separate and save the 4.88 gears. But it's not worth the effort in my opinion.
88 Montero, StarQuest turbo, Kormex 5speed +tuff-pan w/phoenix f. stage2 clutch, 4in lift+33' tires, 4.875 lsd, short-throw shifter, Aisin hubs, SR big brakes, gen2 uca's, elantra alt, and so much more... 16g turbo w/hardpipes + 4.90 locking disk-brake axle soon (maybe lsd or aussie front??)

I've never had any issues with the Mitsu LSD being 'loose'. I've had the opportunity many times to do a 2-wheel burnout with the turbo Mighty Max and my gutless Raider.

I know my gen I v6 LSD was very tight aiding me through the 'con and only requiring a couple of straps to get through. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> If the clutch plates are toast though I would imaging they could be replaced or rebuilt.

Also a fresh change of fluid with some new LSD additive helped mine a bunch. Food for thought.

If the clutch plates are toast though I would imaging they could be replaced or rebuilt. They are available from Mitsu, but for the ridiculous amount they want to charge, it makes an air locked, disk brake axle look cheap. I've read up a lot on grabbing another used friction plate and swapping it out for a disk to tighten things up. Am considering that for the front. Also, I guess I never had good luck with LSDs based on all of your posts. Oh we'll.
