Hello everyone,

This is my first time ever doing this chat thing, I am 70 years old, so please bear with me. I recently purchased a 1989 Montero with 50,300 miles on it. The body is like just out of the factory, zero rust, no accidents but the engine has a hole in it. For the past week I have been doing research on types of engines that might work and I found a 92 Sonata engine with 4000 miles on it, yep 4k.
Anyway all of my research including this excellent website, tells me that my mechanic can do the swap.
Yesterday we took out the old engine and the hole in the oil pan was impressive... 2" x 3". I already had the oil pan brazed and fixed.

This Monty as I see you all call it will be a surprise for my grand daughter, just turned 18, so the body guy, who has doe work for me before is already prepping, as is the upholstery girl, she is really good.

Anyway I regress, sorry, I have to buy the engine tomorrow, driving close to 200 miles, but it seems worth it. (Florida) any advice will be greatly appreciated...

Cheers and thanks
