Body Damage is Cool
If you plan to work on vehicles regularly, this tool can become your best friend when dealing with cooling systems.

It makes getting the air out of the cooling system so much easier - when I finally bought one I understood why all the mechanics I'd ever worked with used them.

Check the radiator cap also. I had one that didn't seal any more and the coolant would steam out past the seal once it got hot. It took me forever to figure out where the coolant was going.

So here's a new twist: I hope I don't sound like an idiot by saying this, because I might be a bit confused on the fan clutch thing, but it seems ok. It's hard to turn when the engine is off, hot or cold... Now, I took it to my buddy's shop and he put one of those radiator cap pressure testers on it and it held pressure fine. So it has a phantom leak??? And, I haven't seen any fluid in the skid plate or on the engine before or after I discovered the issue. I'm stumped...

Alright, I think I might be on to something here, give me your thoughts, doubts, I wanna know what you guys think: the original radiator was completely rusted out and useless, same with the radiator hoses. So I changed them like I had said in the original posting and the truck ran instantly cooler. I think the heater core and it's hoses will look exactly the same as the radiator did. I've always noticed that upon acceleration, there is a little gurgling sound behind the dash as if water was surging through a hose. Maybe the heater hoses are blocked and compromised and the heater core is leaking the fluid. I know the back of the engine is orange from some sort of leak. Maybe that's where it's leaking out and then being burned off by the heat of the engine. Any thoughts??
